A great success of the PhD fellows meeting held this November at ICMAB: JPhD2025
The #JPhD2025, an event entirely organised by PhD fellows, took place between the 12th and the 14th of November, 2025 at the Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona (ICMAB-CSIC). It was a great success in participation, with nearly 100 participants, and scientific networking.
The meeting was organised by ICMAB-CSIC, the Catalan Institute of Nanotechnology (ICN2), and the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), and sponsored by the Central European Research Consortium (CERIC), the publishing house MDPI, the Institute of Microelectronics of Barcelona (IMB-CNM), and CASIO.
The 12 PhD organisers were the following: Afroditi Koutsogianni (ICMAB), Elena Murillo Vilella (ICMAB), Manan Mehta (ICMAB), Xiaoming Liu (ICMAB), Patricia Aguilar Merino (ICN2), Aina Galceran Sabatés (ICN2), Belén Pepió Tárrega (ICN2), Noel Muñoz Pérez (ICN2), Jorge Martínez Romeral (ICN2), Roger de Paz Castany (UAB), Luís Martínez Armesto (UAB) and Aitor Arredondo López (UAB).

The organisers said about this year's edition that "We’re really happy with how this year’s conference turned out. 99 participants (counting oral and poster contributions), 12 invited speakers, a roundtable, 2 workshops and 2 Invited Seminars. It’s always great to see so many PhD candidates from different institutes sharing their work, and just enjoying the day. There’s a lot of preparation behind the scenes, so seeing everything run smoothly feels really rewarding."
In total, 99 people participated in the event, 38 of whom were from the ICMAB. In total, there were 11 different affiliations participating in the conference, as you can see below. The programme was packed will talks (even in parallel sessions) and different events.
