All the ICMAB activities at the European Researchers' Night 2025

The European Researchers' Night, one of the largest science outreach events in Europe, is returning on September 26, 2025. Once again, ICMAB will take part in this great opportunity to celebrate science and innovation, with activities for all the publics.

The European Researchers' Night (Nit Europea de la Recerca), a public event dedicated to science outreach, aimed at bringing research, innovation, and their protagonists closer to people of all ages in a fun and accessible way is approaching.

Celebrated in over 300 cities across Europe, it is celebrated on the last Friday of September and this year it will take place on September 26, with a wide range of activities scheduled for that day and the days around it.

In Catalonia, the activities will be concentrated in the nodes of Barcelona, Tarragona, Girona, Lleida, and Central Catalonia (Vic). 

ICMAB at the Nit Europea de la Recerca

ICMAB has a strong tradition of participating in the European Researchers' Night, seeing it as it as a great occasion to showcase the real-life impact of science and to bring closer between researchers and the public. This year, don't miss the following events:

LAB TOUR

On September 26th, Stefania Sandoval (SSC), Judith Oró (SEM-TEM) and Daniel Martín (Surfaces) of the LAB TOUR project will travel to Soria to participate in the European Researchers' Night activity at the Casino Círculo Amistad Numancia.

LAB TOUR is the name of ICMAB’s new outreach initiative, designed with the intention of bringing science and technology to rural depopulated areas. This first edition will take place in Soria, a region in the so-called “Empty Spain”. The location was chosen due to the Sorian roots of researcher Daniel Martín Jiménez, the project leader at ICMAB.  

Cosmocaixa: Researchers on Stage

As part of the Researchers on Stage micro-talks, Sergi Riera (NANOPTO) will present his project TERRA through the talk "Ciutats que capturen el sol: energia fotovoltaica més enllà dels terrats".  He will be speaking in the second slot, from 7:30 pm to 8:15 pm. Don't miss this exciting glimpse into the future of urban solar energy!

MAGNET: Science in Martorell

Following the sucess of the 2024 collaboration between ICMAB and José Echegaray School, the European Researchers' Night returns to Martorell with another round of talks and hands-on workshops, activities that connect students, families, researchers and teachers in an engaging and educational environment. 

All these activities are possible thanks to the MAGNET alliance between ICMAB and the José Echegaray School, a partnership that grows stronger each year.

Lycée Français

Manan Mehta (NANOPTO) will give the talk "Capture the City Lights-Find the best light source to charge your phone" at the Lycée Français in the beginning of the afternoon. The students will be able to enjoy a series of presentations from researchers. Besides ICMAB, ISGlobal, BSC and UOC will participate. 

Poster European Corner

The European Corner is a virtual poster exhibition showcasing EU-funded research projects from across the continent. This year, Faizan Ali (FOXEM) presents an infographic on his work with Fluorite Structured Ferroelectrics. The online exhibition allows you to explore cutting-edge research happening across Europe, from the comfort of your screen.
