A delegation of researchers from ICMAB groups MULFOX, LMI, eMolMat, ACNM, SUMAN and SuperQMat working with quantum materials and technologies, visited the facilities of the company dedicated to the development of quantum computers. Following the seminar given at ICMAB by its co-founder, Víctor Canivell, on the occasion of the exhibition’s opening, connections were established that have continued to develop, as reflected in this visit.
The visit provided an opportunity to discuss the research carried out at ICMAB in quantum technologies and the goals of Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech. As Gervasi Herranz explains: “The research carried out by our group at ICMAB is based on a completely different mechanism, spintronics, and is at a much more exploratory stage.” He adds: “However, it was very enriching for us to see how a quantum technology is being developed at a commercial level.”
The group also discussed the advances made at ICMAB in the development of molecular quantum bits, an emerging approach, which provides chemically engineered quantum states that can be tailored for long coherence times and could be integrated into scalable quantum architectures.
This mutual exchange is intended to strengthen relationships in the future and to reinforce the quantum ecosystem in Barcelona.
