Two different ICMAB studies appeared in the UAB website UAB Divulga, the science outreach platform aimed at disseminating research conducted at the UAB Campus.
The first one, written by ICMAB researchers Elies Molins and Mònica Benito (from ICMAB's Crystallography group) and co-workers, is titled 'Síntesi sostenible de nous complexos de coure (II) amb lligands orgànics', and you can read it here.
The article explains the novel sustainable synthesis method of copper (II) complexes with organic ligandsm and their characterization. In total, the researchers prepared and characterised four new copper (II) compounds with two different types of ligands, which allowed them to verify the influence of the length and flexibility of the dicarboxylic acid in the resulting structures.

The second featured article is by ICMAB researchers Elies Molins, Mònica Benito and Rosario Nuñez and collaborators, and is titled 'Obtenció de cocristalls amb enllaç d'halogen a partir de metilxantines'. Rosario Nuñez is a member of the LMI group at ICMAB. You can read the article here.
In this case, the researchers studied the formation of cocrystals from methylxanthines and the coformer 1,4-diiodotetrafluorobenzene connected by halogen bonds. The xanthines selected were caffeine, theobromine and theophylline, which are well known for being part of, among others, coffee, tea and chocolate.
