The CSIC presents the second edition of its catalog showcasing 100 of its most innovative technologies
Among the featured innovations, eight were developed at the Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona (ICMAB) — explore them below.
These technologies, developed within different CSIC centres, are available for licensing or for collaborative projects with companies that can help mature and transfer them to the market, with the goal of contributing to societal development.
The presentation of the catalog featured the participation of the president of the institution, Eloísa del Pino. During her speech, the president of the CSIC emphasized the institution’s commitment to the transfer and development of impactful solutions through science. In this regard, one of the Council’s objectives is to bring scientific and technological capabilities and achievements closer to all sectors, with the aim of transforming them into social, economic, and cultural well-being for society as a whole.

- Mimetic lymph nodes for immune cells culture – A 3D biomimetic system designed to replicate lymph node microenvironments for advanced immune cell research and therapy development. (Judith Guasch, DBCI group)
- Lithium filled nanocapsules for cancer treatment – Nanocapsules with enriched lithium for neutron capture therapy (NCT) for cancer treatment, enhancing its efficacy with reduced side effects. (Gerard Tobías, SSC-NANOCIM group)
- Device for vacuum sublimation – A compact, efficient device that enables the sublimation of materials under vacuum conditions for research and industrial use. (Núria Aliaga, FUNNANOSURF group)
- Ink for the production of superconducting flexible tapes – A high-performance ink formulation that allows scalable and fast printing of superconducting tapes for energy and electronics applications. (Teresa Puig, SUMAN group)
- Electrochemical sensor for detecting water pollutants – A sensitive, low-cost electrochemical sensor capable of detecting trace levels of pollutants in water sources. (Martí Gich, NN group)
- Photocatalytic oxidation process to produce phenol – An eco-friendly photocatalytic method for converting benzene into phenol using metallacarboranes at room temperature as catalyst. (Rosario Nuñez, LMI group)
- Piezomagnetic ε-Fe2O3 crystals for 5G applications – Advanced piezomagnetic nanoparticles with unique properties ideal for use in high-frequency devices and next-generation 5G technologies. (Martí Gich, NN group)
- Biosensor for the detection of analytes in biological samples – A versatile biosensor platform that enables rapid, accurate detection of biomarkers in complex biological fluids. (Marta Mas, eMolMat group)
