Abstract:
The work presented in this thesis follows with research line based on the synthesis, characterization and study of new boron cluster derivatives with photoluminescent properties and their potential applications in the field of bioimaging and optoelectronic devices. New carborane cluster appended fluorophores (i.e fluorene, thiophene, BODIPY, perylenediimide, truxene derivatives) have been synthesized and characterized. The photoluminescence behavior of all these systems has been studied in details and specially, the influence of the o-carborane cluster on these systems has been investigated experimentally and using DFT calculations. The present study represents an example to further explore the diversity of o-carborane based π-conjugated fluorophore systems in biomedicine and optoelectronics.
