Next Friday 26th of April the cluster SEPHCO in collaboration with the ALBA Synchrotron is organizing a day centred in battery research, within the framework of the ReMade ARI consortium.
On this day, Rosa Palacín, Head of the Solid State Chemistry Unit at ICMAB, will give a talk titled «Experimentos de interés industrial con radiación sincrotrón: algunos ejemplos en el campo de las baterías». There will be a total of five talks in the morning and in the afternoon a visit at the synchrotron labs.
Rosa Palacín research career involves solid state chemistry and electrochemistry applied to battery technology covering technologies already commercial (e.g. Ni or Li-ion) or pre-commercial (Na-ion), as well as new chemistries and emerging concepts (Mg or Ca) with a focus on developing fertile cooperation scenarios between basic oriented research and industry. Emphasis is set in developing new materials tailoring structure and microstructure to maximize electrochemical performance and understanding redox mechanisms through investigation of electrode and electrolyte reactivity. Her achievements have led to the establishment of a significant number of collaborations and international recognition.
SEPCHO is a cluster that gathers more than 180 organizations promoting technological innovation through deep tech in all sectors of our economy.
ALBA is a 3rd generation Synchrotron Light facility located in Cerdanyola del Vallès. It is a complex of electron accelerators to produce synchrotron light, which allows the visualization of the atomic structure of matter as well as the study of its properties. The 3 GeV electron beam energy at ALBA is achieved by combining a LInear ACcelerator (LINAC) and a low-emittance, full-energy BOOSTER placed in the same tunnel as the STORAGE RING. ALBA's 270 meter perimeter has 17 straight sections all of which are available for the installation of insertion devices.ALBA currently has ten operational state-of-the-art beamlines, comprising soft and hard X-rays, which are devoted mainly to biosciences, condensed matter (magnetic and electronic properties, nanoscience) and materials science. Additionally, four beamlines are in construction (low-energy ultra-high-resolution angular photoemission for complex materials, microfocus for macromolecular crystallography, absorption and diffraction and fast X-ray tomography & radioscopy).
