The 2024 edition of the Journal Citation Reports has been published with the impact factor of journals in 2023. It maintains the reduction to a single decimal place adopted the previous year and presents, as a new feature, the inclusion of each journal in a single ranking by subject category and not in separate rankings by Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE), Social Science Citation Index (SSCI), Arts & Humanities Citation Index (AHCI), and Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI). All journals are now grouped into 229 categories with a unique ranking and quartile assigned to each title.

The centre's publications in 2023 are 69% in the first quartile of their respective categories (133 articles) and 25% in the first decile (49 articles), with an overall average impact factor of 7.7. More commonly published titles, such as ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces, Advanced Functional Materials, Chemistry-A Europan Journal, Chemistry of Materials or Journal of Materials Chemistry C, decrease slightly in impact factor but remain in the same quartile. Journals such as ACS Applied Electronic Materials, Electrochimica Acta, Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics or Scientific Reports

Overall decline in impact factor

The values are lower overall, possibly due to a return to regular publication and citation levels after the unusual increase during the pandemic. Clarivate has been consulted about this trend but has not yet received a response.
