The Francqui Foundation, whose mission is to “promote excellence in disinterested fundamental research,” has confirmed the appointment of Professor Nora Ventosa to a Francqui Chair for the 2025–26 academic year. As part of this distinction, she will deliver a series of lectures at the Brussels School of Engineering (EPB) between March and April 2026.

Nora Ventosa is a research professor at the Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona (ICMAB), which is part of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). She works within the Nanomol research unit, which specializes in green chemistry, soft materials, and nano-biochemistry. Her work focuses on developing innovative methodologies aimed at creating functional nanomaterials for biomedical applications. She is also president of Nanomol Technologies SL and the co-founder and CEO of Delbios Pharmaceuticals SL.

Lectures

Professor Nora Ventosa will be visiting the EPB in March and April 2026 to deliver a series of lectures. A public lecture will be held on March 11, 2026, at 6P.M. at Polina Mendeleev Seminar Hall and will be followed by a reception.

Other lectures she will deliver are on the 5th of March 2026, "Nanotechnology to improve drug delivery. Nanovesicles for nanomedicine.", on the 12th of March 2026, when she will deliver two lectures: "Pharmaceutical quality in nanomedicine. Challenges in their preparation" and "Engineering non-viral nanoparticles for nucleic acid delivery. Requirements for their use in gene therapy.". On the 9th of April she will deliver as well two lectures: "The key role of compressed CO2 based technologies in the production of metal free micro- and nanoparticles for biomedical applications." and "Engineering luminescent and fluorescent metal free nanoparticles. Application in Image Guided Surgery.". Finally, on the 10th of April she will deliver her last two lectures: "Development of a nanomedicine from lab idea to clinical trial application and its monitoring through the KTH Innovation Readiness Level™." and "Knowledge transfer and interchange between research and business. Personal experience on the creation of technology-based spin-offs."
