Podcast on the Pairing Scheme programme of the C Office of the Spanish Congress of Deputies
Sergi Riera-Galindo, ICMAB researcher and participant in the second edition of the program, shares his experience.
The C Office pairing programme between scientists and Congress Deputies has reached its fifth edition. Over the past four years, 39 scientists have been paired with Deputies, usually those who participate in the Science and Innovation Commission. The programme seeks to contribute to increasing mutual knowledge and trust between Deputies and scientists. During four days, the selected researchers accompany a deputy in their day-to-day work. Observing how parliamentary debate functions and how the laws are drafted, facilitates future collaboration.
Sergi Riera-Galindo participated in the program in 2023. Following a random assignment, he was paired with Sumar deputy Tesh Sidi (Teslem Andala Ubbi). Beyond the training experience, his participation coincided with the preparation of a report on materials for the energy transition (Materiales y materias primas críticas en la transición energética). The report, written by dozens of experts, included contributions from both Sergi Riera-Galindo and ICMAB's researcher Rosa Palacín.
