Abstract:
The present thesis has been devoted to the synthesis of a series of novel carborane-based Coordination Polymers (CPs) or Metal Organic Frameworks (MOFs) incorporating also polycarboxylate ligands and various metals. These obtained carborane-based MOFs exhibited various architectures including 2D and 3D structures, some of them porous. One of the structures possesses large solvent accessible channels and shows a crystal sponge behavior. A reversible single-crystal to single-crystal transformation of this carborane based MOF is also introduced. Motivated by the observed weak interactions between layers in the 2D materials, the first high-aspect ratio carborane-based Metal Organic Nanosheets (MONs) were produced via exfoliation of 2D bulk crystals using top-down method..
