Overview of past, present and future prospects of IDOM activities on Fusion research (ITER and beyond)

Abstract

After the achievement of important historical milestones in recent years, Nuclear Fusion is experiencing the emergence of countless projects and initiatives of private capitalization in the world for short-term achievements and thus entering a new industrial stage in its vindication as an upcoming energy solution. This overlaps the delay expressed in large international projects (ITER) and the appearance in prospect of important public-private collaboration actions in the world.
In recent decades, IDOM has been a main agent with leadership and participation in a wide range of activities and projects around the world.
The talk will give an overview of the Company's past and ongoing activities along with a forward-looking view of developments in Fusion in the short and medium term.

Short bio

Pierfederico has a degree in Electronic Engineering from the Polytechnic of Milan (PoliMI). He started working in SW Engineering first at IBM and later at Philips Medical Systems. He joined IDOM in 2009, first in the Innovation team and later in Nuclear Services; for now more than a decade, he has performed tasks of Project Management and Business Development in Fusion, in particular for the ITER project.
