In the framework of the Nanoscience and Nanotechnology festival 10alamenos9, the "Nanorelats" writing contest for secondary education students is back. We encourage participation in this initiative, which combines literary creativity and science!
In May 2025, we will celebrate the 10alamenos9 festival for yet another year. After eight editions at UAB, maybe it will be the last edition of this successful, multiformat event. One of its activities is the contest "Nanorelats: there is plenty of room for stories in the nanoworld".
The contest is open to students from 3rd and 4th grade of ESO, FP studies and 1st and 2nd grade of Baccalaureate from educational centres in Catalonia.
The short stories, with a maximum of 200 words, can be written in both Catalan and Spanish. The style and format are open (narrative of all kinds, poetry, song lyrics, etc.); however, they must all address the topic of nanoscience and nanotechnology. The use of generative AI software is strictly prohibited.
The jury will consist of researchers, outreach professionals, and people from the literary world. Rossella Zaffino from the FunNanoSurf group will represent ICMAB on the jury.

Other events will take place as part of the festival, in which ICMAB will also participate. On May 8, two different groups of students will visit ICMAB, where they will be introduced to the centre's research and guided through the facilities by Guillem Whetherell (NN) and María Ortiz (e-MolMat). Núria Pujol (Nanomol-bio) will participate in the central event at UAB.
On May 9, ICMAB will also participate in the evening outreach activity at CosmoCaixa. More information about these activities will be released soon.
