Abstract
L’ICMAB és un institut del CSIC que es va crear fa 36 anys i per tant ha viscut uns anys decisius en el creixement del sistema català de ciència i tecnologia. El perfil del centre ha estat multidisciplinari i s’ha convertit en un centre de referència en les disciplines relacionades amb els materials funcionals. Això no obstant, no existeixen estudis fiables sobre el pes que ha tingut el centre respecte la recerca desenvolupada a Catalunya i respecte la contribució feta pels centres del CSIC a Catalunya.
En aquesta presentació es mostrarà una metodologia d’anàlisi de la producció científica de l’ICMAB des de els seus orígens basada en el banc de dades “Web of Science (WOS)”. En concret, s’ha pogut determinar quin és el pes que ha tingut l’ICMAB en el creixement de la producció científica de Catalunya i del CSIC en els darrers 36 anys i en quines categories WOS hi ha jugat un rol destacat.
Sense cap mena de dubte, el coneixement de les tendències globals, així com les locals, sobre la producció científica i el seu impacte constitueixen un instrument preciós per a la prospectiva científica i la definició d’oportunitats i de prioritats pel futur.
About Xavier Obradors
Xavier Obradors is a Condensed Matter physicist and a Material scientist involved for 40 years in research and development of functional materials, specifically in magnetic and superconducting materials, investigating the integration in advanced electrical and electronic devices. He obtained a Physics degree and a PhD degree in Physics at University of Barcelona (1978 and 1982) and a Materials Science PhD degree at the University of Grenoble (France) in 1983. He was also an invited scientist in Argonne National Laboratory and University of California at San Diego (USA). He was Associate Professor at University of Barcelona (1985) and Research Scientist (1989) and Research Professor (1992) at Institut of Materials Science of Barcelona (ICMAB-CSIC). He was Deputy Director of ICMAB (2002-08) and Director (2008-23) and he widely enlarged the excellence profile of this center, being recognized twice with the Severo Ochoa excellence distinction of the Spanish Science Ministry.
He has co-authored more than 600 articles, he has been the advisor of 30 PhD scientists, he has filed 18 patents and he created the spin-off company Oxolutia. He has served as President of the European Society of Applied Superconductivity and he was awarded with the National Physics and Materials Science Prize “Blas Cabrera” and the Cryogenic Materials award for lifetime achievements and he is member of the Royal Academy of Sciences and Arts of Barcelona. He has been editor of Physica C and member of the Editorial Executive Board of Superconductor Science and Technology and at present he is Editor-in-Chief of Superconductivity News Forum (IEEE-CSC).
