LAB TOUR 2026 poster 

In addition to its outreach focus, LAB TOUR also has a significant social and cultural dimension. The project encourages the creation of interregional ties and dialogue around culture, history, and current challenges—such as the demographic issue of depopulation in rural areas of Spain.

Designed as a biannual project, LAB TOUR begins its journey in 2025 in Soria! Visit the project website for more information. 

LAB TOUR is an initiative by the Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona (ICMAB-CSIC), funded by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) - Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities. Its main goal is to bring scientific culture closer to society, especially in rural areas and communities with limited access to scientific activities.

LAB TOUR will visit in spring 2026 three Early Childhood and Primary Education Schools (CEIP), which are also Rural Cluster Schools (CRA) serving six towns in Soria. You can lear more about these towns here.

17 March 2026

On the 17th of March they will go to the school C.R.A. Río Izana, that schools children from the towns of Tardelcuende and Quintana Redonda.

18 March 2026

On the 18th of March they will go to the school C.R.A. La Ribera, that schools children from the towns of Langa de Duero.

19 March 2026

On the 19th of March they will go to the school C.R.A. El Valle, that schools children from the towns of Almarza and Fuentelfresno.

On that same day, at 7 PM, LAB TOUR will give a talk at the Casino Círculo de la Amistad Numancia in Soria. The talk will be titled: “Ciencia, sociedad y cultura. Entre Soria y Cataluña: de la emigración rural a los pigmentos del románico", and will be delivered by Anna Crespi and Daniel Martín.

On the 20th of March they will go to the school C.R.A. El Valle, that schools children from the towns of Almajano.
