LAB TOUR: Science for everyone, everywhere

LAB TOUR is an initiative by the Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona (ICMAB-CSIC), funded by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) - Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities. Its main goal is to bring scientific culture closer to society, especially in rural areas and communities with limited access to scientific activities.

What is LAB TOUR?

For one week, scientists from ICMAB-CSIC travel through a region of Spain to share their knowledge through workshops, talks, and interactive activities aimed at students, teachers, and the general public. With this initiative, LAB TOUR not only strengthens the connection between the scientific community and society, but also promotes more equitable access to science, fostering a more innovative and inclusive future.

In addition to its outreach focus, LAB TOUR also has a significant social and cultural dimension. The project encourages the creation of interregional ties and dialogue around culture, history, and current challenges—such as the demographic issue of depopulation in rural areas of Spain.
