ICMAB Participation in the 10alamenos9 Nanoscience Festival

Last week, researchers from ICMAB-CSIC participated in the '10alamenos9' Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Festival that took place in the UAB campus. More than 150 students aged 15 to 18 visited 3 centers in the campus that do research in the nanoscale: IMB-CNM-CSIC, ICN2 and ICMAB-CSIC, and the Science Faculty.

In our case, we received students from the Institut de Lliçà de Munt and Sant Cugat's Institut Joaquima Pla. They visited the Low Temperature and Magnetometry lab and were given an explanation by Bernat Bozzo and the X-Ray diffraction lab were they analyzed an aspirin sample, with Darla Mare and Anna Crespi. They were also given introductory talks to the center and to nanoscience by Laia Avilés, Martí Gich and Alejandro Cuesta.

The PhD student Alejandro Cuesta also participated in a round table to talk about his experience with science and how he arrived to the position in ICMAB.

The Festival was very successful in showing that the nano-world is amusing and full of job opportunities, and making students consider it in their future professional paths, as can be seen with the amount of questions and level of engagement throughout the day.
