Dr. Adrián Tamayo, awarded with the II CSIC Award for Relevant Doctoral Thesis
Dr. Tamayo won this award for his thesis "Printing of organic semiconductors: morphology, crystal structure and interfaces".
He has won one of the awards for a Relevant Doctoral Thesis, which he did at the eMolMat group, under the supervision of Marta Mas.
CSIC gives this annual award to doctoral theses written and defended by CSIC research staff who have stood out for their quality, impact and relevance. These award institutionally recognize the work carried out at the CSIC by research staff in training, professionals whose work is crucial for the advancement of knowledge and the institution.
In addition to promoting quality doctorates, the CSIC wants to recognize the research of research staff in their early careers and help them to use this recognition to advance their research and professional careers.
In his thesis, Dr. Tamayo focused on the processing of small molecules organic semiconductors (OSCs) to study the relationship between film morphology, small molecule crystal structure and the electrical performance of the organic devices. Aiming at enhancing the electrical performance and stability of the organic field effect transistors based on p-type OSCs blended with an insulating polymer deposited by solution shearing techniques, namely Bar Assistance Meniscus Shearing (BAMS). In addition, they also explored the application of the OFETs as X-ray photodetectors for imaging application and, the electrolyte-gated OFETs to study interface events on the gate electrode/electrolyte interface.
