Delbios Pharmaceuticals SL, new ICMAB-CSIC spin-off, secures Neotec 2025 funding
Delbios Pharmaceuticals SL, a new spin-off from the Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona (ICMAB-CSIC), has been awarded funding from the prestigious Neotec 2025 Programme (CDTI). The company, created by researchers from the Nanomol-Bio group, aims to bring innovative nanomedicines from advanced preclinical stages to early clinical development, translating cutting-edge research into real therapeutic solutions.
Delbios focuses on advancing innovative nanomedicines from advanced preclinical stages to early clinical phases. The company’s mission is to develop cutting-edge pharmaceutical products based on nanotechnology, contributing to the translation of academic research into real therapeutic solutions.
Delbios’ business model is based on acquiring patent licenses for products primarily originating from the Nanomol-Bio research group at ICMAB-CSIC, sometimes in collaboration with other academic institutions, hospitals, and companies. These nanomedicines are advanced to early clinical stages and subsequently licensed out to pharmaceutical companies (out-licensing).
Continuing the Nano4Rare project
This development builds on previous Catalan, Spanish, and European projects and is protected by a process patent family and supported by multiple patent filings for platform and products, ensuring a strong Intellectual Property Rights Strategy. nanoGLA was designated as an Orphan Medicinal Product by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) in 2021.
About the Neotec Programme
With this achievement, Delbios Pharmaceuticals SL embarks on an exciting new stage filled with challenges and opportunities. At ICMAB-CSIC, we are confident that the company will become a benchmark in the field of nanomedicine and play a key role in transferring scientific knowledge into real health solutions. We wish Delbios every success in consolidating its growth, advancing innovation, and contributing to the well-being of society through its pioneering research.
