Crossing borders, building bridges: A story of growth and connection through the EARMA Mentorship Scheme
The Mentorship Scheme is an annual initiative that connects professionals from different European institutions through personalised mentoring processes. The programme began in February 2025 with a kick-off meeting at the EARMA offices in Brussels, where mentors and mentees established objectives, expectations, and working methods. Since then, Eulàlia has held monthly online meetings with her mentor, Morgane Colleau (Senior Research Advisor – NTNU and Nord University, Norway), to work through professional challenges, reflect on her role, and share experiences in research management.

The visit also included a trip to the Nord University campus in Levanger–Røstad, where she met additional staff members and learned about the workings of a smaller, more geographically distributed institution. The experience—marked by a warm, welcoming atmosphere and an impressive snowy landscape—offered valuable insights into different organisational approaches to research support.
About this experience, Eulàlia reflects: “After this stay in Norway, I feel more validated and strengthened. Many of the challenges these colleagues described—managing expectations, navigating priorities, facing demanding workloads—are very similar to my own. Knowing that these challenges are shared across countries and institutions makes me feel less alone and more integrated into an international professional community.”
About Eulàlia Pujades-Otero
Eulàlia Pujades-Otero earned a BSc in Chemistry (2014) and an MSc in Industrial Chemistry & Chemical Research (2015) from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). She further obtained a Postgraduate Degree in Technology Transfer in 2021 through the Barcelona School of Management – Universitat Pompeu Fabra (BSM-UPF), reflecting a strong interest in managing research and fostering the translation of science towards practical and industrial applications.
In December 2024 she successfully defended her PhD thesis titled “Nanocarbons and Mediators for Energy Storage” at the Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona (ICMAB-CSIC), focusing on improving energy-storage systems by investigating Zinc-Air and Vanadium Redox Flow batteries with novel nanomaterial-enhanced electrolytes.
Since 2021 she is Project Manager for the NANOPTO group at ICMAB-CSIC, where she combines her scientific background with project coordination, technology transfer, and industrial-sector experience. She participates in numerous National and European Projects, such as RADIANT, DYNAMO or SYNATRA.
