Abstract
The BIOSERVICE is a service of recent creation (2020) that offers support to the research groups at ICMAB in the design, execution and analysis of experiments with biological agents such as mammal cells and bacteria. The service was made in collaboration with ICN2, allowing access to their Biolab facility to perform all the necessary experiments.

In this technical seminar we will present the current capabilities of the service and how to ask for an experiment. Additionally, we will provide some general considerations to keep in mind while working with materials and biological agents.

Short bio

Marc received his degree in Biochemistry in 2016 in the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). In 2017 he joined the NANOMOL group at the Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona (ICMAB-CSIC) under the supervision of Dr. Imma Ratera and Dr. Judith Guasch to work on his master thesis. He received his Master degree in Advanced Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, specialized in Nanobiotechnology, in July 2017. During this time, he studied the proliferation of human immune cells in 3D scaffolds, aiming to develop synthetic 3D systems to enhance cancer immunotherapies.

Afterwards, he was awarded an FPI fellowship to perform his Ph.D in the same research group, under the supervision of Prof. Nora Ventosa, Dr. Imma Ratera and Dr. Judith Guasch. Marc received his Ph.D degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biomedicine in March 2023 with a dissertation about the interaction of cells with 2D and 3D nanostructured systems, featuring a transversal work at the interface between cell biology and materials science.

In November 2023 he joined the BIOSERVICE of the Scientific and Technical Services of ICMAB as a technician.
