Two Pre-Doc positions available at UAM (Madrid) and CIN2 (Barcelona) |

Two 4-year positions are available for Graduate Students to work towards a PhD Thesis on projects related to SIESTA development and applications. The positions are open at the groups of Prof. Jose M. Soler at UAM (Madrid), and Prof. Pablo Ordejón at CIN2 (Barcelona). They are funded by a Grant (FIS2009-12721-C04) from the Spanish MICINN (Ministry of Science and Innovation), entitled "Development and application of efficient quantum-mechanical simulation methods in complex materials, nanostructures and surfaces".
- Duration: four years maximum.
- Requirements: the candidates must have a University Degree enabling them to enroll into a Master Program at a Spanish University. This degree should be in a scientific area related to the
project (physics, chemistry, materials science …).
- Aim: To work towards a PhD Thesis in projects related to the development of first-principles computational tools (in particular SIESTA), and their application to specific problems in surface science, nanoscience, materials science, etc.
- Contract conditions:
- During the first two years: a studentship (including social benefits) with a salary of around 1140 euros/month (before taxes)
- During the last two years: a work contract (including social benefits) with a salary of 16400 euros/year (before taxes).
- Starting Date: Around July, 2010.
