Frequently we have opportunities for post-doctoral work on the various research lines of the group.

OTHER RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES

Postdoctoral research

Possibilities range from the Marie Curie actions of the European Commission to various national schemes. Of special interest are two Spanish funding schemes that are yearly open to applicants from any nationality:

• Juan de la Cierva fellowships of the Spanish Ministry of Science and Education: Roughly, applications are due in March, awardees are made public in June, and work starts in October-November.
• Fellowships of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC): Roughly, applications are due in December and awardees are made public in March-April.

Both of them involve 3-year contracts that offer an excellent opportunity for professional development. Generally speaking, both PhD holders and students in their last year of PhD can apply to these positions. Some flexibility in the starting date is usually allowed by the funding agencies.

PhD research

Mostly funded through Spanish fellowships (grants from regional governments, MEC, Fundacion Areces, etc.) Of special interest are CSIC's own fellowships, which are open to individuals of any nationality:

• Fellowships of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC): Roughly, applications are due in January and awardees are made public in April-May.
